Brighton Viva! Vegan Festival Review

We were at the fantastic Brighton Viva! Vegan Festival this weekend and had such an amazing time. It’s been more and more thrilling to attend these events – being around so much vegan food is really exciting, and offers us the chance to eat things we’ve never seen before.

This time around was no exception, and we have lots of great products to share with you as well as our video tour of the event. You can catch that here:

As before, we’re going to save the product reviews and our VIP goody bag for another post, so look out for that coming soon. Meanwhile, we have plenty to share with you from the event itself… including this amazing candyfloss.

This was probably one of the highlights of our day to be absolutely fair – this is not the candyfloss you may remember from going to the fair as a kid. It’s flavoured, it’s huge, and it’s topped with different toppings according to the flavour you choose. We went for one cookies and cream, which is basically Oreo candyfloss, and one banana rainbow, which is banana flavoured candyfloss with rainbow sprinkles and bits of glittery sugar.

They tasted great and they were a whole lot of fun to eat. We felt like kids getting utterly covered in the stuff, with sticky sugar all over our fingers. Totally worth it in every way!

There were lots of stalls to browse and everything was high quality – I was tempted more than once to pick up some new t-shirts or jewellery and had to restrain myself! The quality of food stalls is always amazing and we’re pleased to see both a number of familiar faces and a number of new faces every time. While we personally don’t pay so much attention to the beauty stalls and health products, the food is everywhere and it’s all so gorgeous.

There was a separate area for the catering stalls, where you could buy something more suited for lunch, and there was so much choice we hardly knew where to start. In the end, we opted for a burger each (of course!), so we’ll be telling you all about that on a later date.

The festival was so much fun and we’re really looking forward to attending more of these in the future. Each one has a slightly different flavour and that means they keep on being fun every time!

After we finished wandering around the festival, having lunch, eating our candyfloss, and buying everything we wanted, we went for a walk around Brighton to see what we could see. J actually works in Brighton now and so we knew already about a lot of the shops, but we somehow managed to stumble onto a couple of vegan places we hadn’t seen before.

Infinity Foods is a massive supermarket where just about anyone with any dietary restrictions could find enough food to stock their whole kitchen – it’s amazing and we’re going to be picking up a lot of food there from now on. We also found some vegan sausage rolls to die for, a pizza place with a buffet where only a handful of options had meat on them, and plenty more exciting things.

Brighton is one of the best cities where you can go to be vegan or vegetarian as everything is so open. Hopefully, that’s how the rest of the country will be in the not so distant future. For now, we’re always happy to hear suggestions of restaurants we should try in Kent and London that cater to veggie diets – and of towns and cities around the world that are a haven for meat-free food!
