Lady Luck Southwest Red Bean Burger

Lady Luck Southwest Red Bean Burger

I’m excited to start telling you all about the Lady Luck, because it has rapidly become one of our favourite places to go. Despite the fact that it’s over an hour’s drive away from home, we’ve already been 3 times – and I even took my parents! This is our absolute favourite bar right now, and with a fantastic veggie and vegan menu, there’s nothing not to like.

Smith and Western Nacho Bean Burger

Nacho bean burger from the Smith and Western

So, this is the third time I’ve reviewed the Smith and Western – and it’s their third new burger. The menu changes here so often I can barely keep up, and every time we go back there’s something new. It’s kind of annoying because it means you never get what you were expecting, and when you were looking forward to it, that’s a shame.

Asda Spicy Piri Piri Bean Burgers

This week, we decided to try the Asda Spicy Piri Piri Bean Burgers, which I was a bit apprehensive about. After all, look at all those chillis on the packet! In the end, I actually decided to forgo these in favour of some beetroot burgers which you’ll hear about soon. On the other hand, J was keen to give them a go, and after having a tiny nibble of his, we were able to cobble together a review between us.

Georgia’s Choice Mexican Bean Bakes

This week we found something completely new in the supermarket! That’s not a very regular occurrence these days, so it was pretty exciting (and this is probably why I don’t get invited to many dinner parties). These Georgia’s Choice Mexican bean bakes looked too good to ignore, and the chance to try a new brand was something I just couldn’t pass up.

Maxwells: Veg-Out Burger

I have to introduce you to my new favourite place to eat. Reader, meet Maxwells.

Well, alright, when I say eat, I really mean drink. But to be fair, a drink at Maxwell’s is sort of like a meal anyway. Case in point: their freakshakes, which are really just desserts with a liquid component. Here’s the oreo freakshake, topped with an ice cream sandwich, layers of cream, and broken up oreos, and with an oreo milkshake on the inside.

The Vauxhall Inn – Spiced Mexican Melt Burger

Vauxhall Inn

After a long day filming a TV pilot recently, J and I were dropped back by the production company at an easy to reach location: the Vauxhall Inn, which just so happens to be a restaurant with a pretty good reputation. They also have a dedicated vegetarian section on the menu, which is more than enough to impress me – so we decided to skip the cooking and give it a go.

Smokey’s Spicy Bean Burger

Recently, we were in Brighton for the day and decided to top it off with a veggie burger. There are a lot of great veggie and vegan options in this city – we’re planning a round-up sooner or later – so narrowing it down was tough. We eventually settled on Smokey’s, which is a bit of a weird one. It’s downstairs – we actually walked past it at first because we didn’t expect to be looking downwards to find it – and despite the American BBQ theme, actually looks more like a traditional English pub inside, albeit with Spanish-language film posters. It’s a strange vibe but quite a nice one, and we settled in well after walking through the rain to get there.

Vine Post: Chili Bean Cakes

This week we’ve got one of our favourite things to share with you: a new veggie burger recipe! This one is adapted from a cookbook simply titled “Vegetarian” which I’ve had since my student days but never really delved too much into. Before you get too excited, I’ll be bringing you the recipe and review on Wednesday – for now we’re just going to take a look at the tasty, tasty Vine!

Ed’s Diner – Chickpea and Quinoa Burger

Ed's Diner atomic chips

Recently we went back to Ed’s Diner to try their second burger – a full year after the first! The chickpea and quinoa burger was the focus of this visit, but I also decided to get a plate of the atomic American fries. These are served “With chilli, sour cream, Cheddar cheese sauce and guacamole on the side. Veggie option with BBQ sauce”. As you will see below, they are absolutely huge. The burger itself was very filling too, so just with these two items it was a filling meal.

Sainsbury’s Smoky Mexican Bean Burger

Sainsbury's Smoky Mexican Bean Burger

This week we tried out the Sainsbury’s Smoky Mexican Bean Burger. This is something that sounds and looks quite generic, to be absolutely honest – how many Mexican bean burgers do you reckon I’ve eating in my life? It has got to be quite a high number, so something like this really has to stand out in order to impress me.
