This week’s review is Vivera’s Veggie Shawarma Kebab. It’s quite an intriguing prospect as, having been vegetarian for my whole life, I have no concept whatsoever of what a shawarma should be like, or indeed a kebab of any kind. So, despite the off-putting fact that the packaging contains the word ‘tasty’ twice in the same sentence, we gave it a try.
It also contains a ‘recipe’ for a pita pocket, which more or less entails putting the shawarma and a small amount of other common-sense ingredients into a pita. Since I don’t need such guidance, I went rogue and made myself a pita WITHOUT their instructions. Crazy, I know. I combined the shawarma with lettuce, shredded carrot, some mayonnaise, and mozzarella bites. As you will note in the image below, I made sure the shawarma had some room on its own inside the pita so I could accurately assess the taste.
It’s quite chewy, much like the other Vivera products. Actually, I’d give a pretty fair bet that this is simply one of their other products which has been ripped up a bit more to give a different appearance. The taste wasn’t very remarkable, and I couldn’t really put my finger on what flavouring they have applied to the product. Either way, it didn’t make a lot of impact on me. We had it the once to try it, and since then, haven’t been bothered enough to buy it again.
