Recently we were sent some mints and gum through from this great little brand, Peppermint. We were so excited to try them as they have great health benefits compared to normal mints, and they also came in a cute package that was a joy to open. We actually Vined the unboxing, as you can see here:

So, a little background info about these mints. The company is based in London, and they add health benefits to their products by swapping out sugar for xylitol. Not only do they have less of a sugar content, but they also help to fight plaque, which is pretty handy. Xylitol is a natural ingredient which has around 40% less calories than sugar, has a lower GI, and of course has all the dental health benefits added too. Basically, it stops bacteria from growing inside your mouth, which over time will mean less of a chance of tooth decay. 

Now that you know what they are, what did we think of them? There were two flavours of mints, both of which we tried out. The eucalyptus and peppermint versions are very refreshing, giving a burst of that minty flavour as well as a cool note in the background to prevent it from being too strong. With the Sicillian lemon and peppermint flavour, there’s a real bright note with the lemon kicking through. I’m a fan of the lemon myself – I’ve already marked them out as mine so J can’t steal them!

J tried out the gum, as he loves chewing gum and always keeps a pack in the car. He found them to have a great taste, rather than the artificial mint taste that sometimes comes along with gum. Even for someone like me who is not a fan of gum, I did find these enjoyable – they really taste clean and good, leaving your mouth feeling refreshed.

My favourite thing, though, has to be the packaging. I’m a big stationary nerd, and I just love the way that they’ve put these boxes together – from the bold colours and logo, the leaf motif, and the hidden surprise of little cartoons that greet you when you open the lid. Each of them appears to be a man, fictional or not, wearing a comical moustache – quite fitting for the brand, as it plays on their logo! Almost makes me want to buy lots of boxes to see if I can collect them all…
