We are thrilled this week to be reviewing Bad Brownies, after we had some of their delicious treats sent out to us as a sample. “They must be lying,” was the first thing J said when we opened up the package and took our first bite. “There’s no way that’s vegan.”
But Bad Brownies really do offer fully vegan treats – and not only that, but also gluten-free, and these salted caramel chocolate brownies are absolutely to die for. Best believe we’re about to tell you why.
First, let’s talk presentation. They were so beautifully wrapped up that it felt like a real gift, and even though they were just oozing salted caramel sauce, the wrapping paper is thick enough and greaseproof enough that none of that came through. There’s a lot of attention to detail here, not least in the fact that they are also covered with glitter. Glittery brownies! Can you think of anything more magical?
They taste very chocolatey and the layer of salted caramel sauce in the middle is just heavenly. They are gooey and moist like any non-vegan brownie would be, and there’s literally nothing lost in terms of flavour or texture for the exclusion of animal products. It’s clear that these brownies are made with the utmost skill, and you can feed them to anyone you like – no one would ever guess that they were vegan.
The portion sizing may look small here, but actually it’s perfect because they are very rich. We’re notorious snackers and have huge sweet tooths between us, but having one square in a sitting is definitely more than enough. We never found ourselves craving a second one even though they are so tasty, which means that these will last and last.
On that subject, we also noted that these are suitable for freezing, so we gave that a go too. After a week in the freezer and then being brought out and defrosted, they were every bit as moist and delicious. Perfect if you wanted to order them ahead of time for an important event! You can order them online and have them delivered right to your door, which is so convenient and really makes their quality so much more incredible.
J’s second question to me? “So, when are we ordering these again?” It feels like that might just tell you all you need to know.
