Video: Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

With the hot weather we’ve been enjoying a lighter kind of food – lots of salads and fruit. This week we thought we’d share a simple treat which is a lot of fun to eat – and a lot easier to make than you probably think! Chocolate-covered strawberries are so delicious, we just had to film them for you.

I picked up a packet of Wilton Candy Melts in Light Cocoa for this dessert. You can find them in Hobbycraft – I actually found them by chance while I was looking for supplies for my Etsy shop. It takes about a minute to microwave them, and while they aren’t vegan, they are a great alternative to using “normal” chocolate – they don’t taste so great raw but when melted they are fantastic.

It’s really simple to do this – you just melt the chocolate in a bowl or bag, and then dip the strawberries in after taking the stems off. I used a spatula to smooth out the chocolate a bit but you really don’t even need to. Don’t worry about making them neat – just enjoy!

The melts will become solid again quite quickly, especially after touching the cool strawberries. In about the time it takes to do a normal-sized punnet, the first ones will be solid! They will stick to any plate or surface they are resting on, so you can avoid this by leaving one side of the strawberries bare. I actually find chipping the dried chocolate off the plate to be an extra fun aspect haha!

Here’s the video so you can see how it’s done – give them a try for yourself and let us know what you think!

  2. Oh wow that looks so delicious. I would love to try this with different varieties of chocolate – could you do this with white or dark chocolate do you think?

    1. Definitely! You could use any kind of flavoured chocolate too – strawberry flavoured chocolate strawberries maybe?
