So, as you know by now, we’ve just spent a week in the Loire region of France. A full write up of our non-burger exploits will be coming soon (edit: here), but for now, I wanted to introduce you to a great little burger place we found in Angers. This historic town has a bustling centre full of shops, bakeries, patisseries, and restaurants, including one called VF. This is in fact one of a pair, with the other to be found in Nantes.
We ordered the veggie burger, which is made with a vegetable burger, bell pepper tapenade, pesto, and goat’s cheese, at the price of 9 Euros 70 for the burger plus chips and a drink.
Actually, the burger was far more impressive than we expected. We discovered a beautiful burger which looked nothing like what you would expect from the McDonalds of this world; this is a fast food place with a bit of a difference. There was rich and tasty pesto, a coating of delicious and melty cheese, fresh lambs’ lettuce over everything, mushrooms, and a sweet brioche-style bun holding it all together. This was served with skin-on fries, and was basically one of the best fast food meals I’ve ever had.
I can honestly say that if this place existed in the UK, it would be my first choice for food on the go. It was just so very tasty, and delivered wrapped up and ready to eat whether in or out, at a cheap price. It was also delivered in a nice environment, where effort had been made to present a clean and eco-friendly space that was pleasant to eat in. There’s not much more you could ask for.
