Today we’re talking about a restaurant that we discovered for the first time in 2018, and which absolutely blew us away. Situated just around the corner of the Shepherd’s Bush underground station, Tai Buffet is an all-vegan Asian food buffet venue which caters to an all-you-can-eat crowd until late daily.
It’s a pretty amazing place, to be honest. I was introduced to it by a friend of mine who I have known for many years, and who went vegetarian after we’d known each other for a while. After eating there once, I couldn’t possibly ignore it – and I ended up going back with J and my parents more than once.
This place never fails to impress. The sheer array of dishes they have is excellent, catering for all tastes. There’s spicy, mild, sweet and sour, vegetables, noodles, rice, meat substitutes, and just about everything else you could possibly wish for. I’ve noticed some variation in the options between different visits, though they also seem to have a high percentage of staples which are always on offer. Some of my favourites include the sweet and sour balls, the chow mein and rice, the veggie spring rolls, the satay and sweet and sour sauces, and the ‘tempura’ (which isn’t at all like tempura I’ve had elsewhere, but nonetheless delicious).
Two plates is about all I or anyone I’ve been there with has ever been able to manage. The food is substantial and filling, and very tasty indeed. You do need to pay with cash, so watch out for this – so often I forget until I’m already there!
This is one of my favourite places to eat – not just in London, but out of anywhere I’ve ever been. Definitely one of my biggest highlights of 2018!
