Caffe Nero Vegan Wrap

Caffe Nero Vegan Wrap

This week I’m sharing something I eat far too often. That’s right, my life is now so ridiculous that either my dinner or my lunch often consists of “whatever Caffe Nero have on the shelves at Waterloo Station”.

Thankfully, what they have on the shelves includes this relatively new option: a sweet potato falafel and beetroot houmous wrap, which comes with harissa slaw and spinach. read more

Video: Cheat’s Healthy Cheese and Onion Pasties

Cheat's healthy cheese and onion pasties

These cheat’s healthy cheese and onion pasties are absolutely delicious, basically a modern marvel, and so much healthier than the real thing you won’t feel guilty about eating five. Intrigued? Wait until you hear how we do it.

The main problem with a pasty, AKA one of the most delicious foods you can buy on an average high street which is fully contained within its own wrapper, is the pastry. It’s full of calories, most of them contained in the braided crust alone. So what can you do about that? Well, the answer is to take the pastry away – and replace it with the far healthier tortilla.  read more

Video: Italian Quesadillas

We’re loving the fusion theme at the moment, and so these Italian quesadillas came to mind. We started with the basic idea of the Insalata Caprese: a salad which is meant to represent the colours of the Italian flag. Red tomatoes, white mozzarella, and green basil are a staple of this dish. read more

Quorn Vegan Hot & Spicy Burgers

Anyone who reads this blog and hates spicy food, look away now. I know you’re out there because I’ve spoken to some of you, and this burger is just not for you. Even I, made almost immune by J’s insistence on adding a bit of spice to everything, found these burgers to be too hot. Way too hot. So hot it was actually pretty uncomfortable. read more

Veggie Living: Silverstone British Grand Prix

This week past, I was living the field life at the British Grand Prix. Silverstone has been my home for five days out of the year for a decade now, as I have been volunteering as a crowd safety (and now track safety) marshal for all of that time. You might think it’s pretty tricky to eat veggie food at a place like that, where all of the food stalls are focused mostly around burgers – but actually, it’s not so bad, and this year there were more choices than ever. read more

Georgia’s Choice Mexican Bean Bakes

This week we found something completely new in the supermarket! That’s not a very regular occurrence these days, so it was pretty exciting (and this is probably why I don’t get invited to many dinner parties). These Georgia’s Choice Mexican bean bakes looked too good to ignore, and the chance to try a new brand was something I just couldn’t pass up. read more

Vine Recipe: Pesto and Cream Cheese Pinwheels

Pesto and Cream Cheese Pinwheels

This month on Vine, we’re trying all things pesto. First up is this simple and ludicrously tasty finger food, pesto and cream cheese pinwheels. They use a homemade pesto recipe which I’ll be sharing soon, and a very small selection of other ingredients. You can also purchase pre-made green pesto, though it won’t be as healthy (and might not be as delicious). read more

Veggie Living: Working Lunch

Veggie Living: Working Lunch

Quite often, I’m asked questions like “what do you eat?”. Non-vegetarians don’t seem to have any concept of what can be eaten without including meat, but actually it is a lot more simple to follow a vegetarian diet than you may think. Those who crave meat replacements can enjoy Quorn, tofu, and alternative recipes, and if you don’t mind, there are a million things you can eat without any form of meat or meat substitute. read more

Tesco Southern Fried Bean Burgers

Tesco Southern Fried Bean Burgers

When you read the name ‘Southern Fried Bean Burgers’, you expect something a bit obvious. A bit boring, even. Or at least I do. Just a simple burger is what I infer from that name – nothing very exciting at all. That’s why the team behind this product have really made a big mistake: because there is something really quite interesting about these burgers, that you would never guess at all from the name. read more
