Wetherspoons have added a new gourmet vegetable burger – I know, I was excited too. Thing is, they’ve only called it the gourmet vegetable burger, which seems a bit odd given that all the previous gourmet veggies actually had, well, names. Anyway, we’ll pass over that and get to the review.
It’s time for another of our travel guides – this time based in Birmingham! I regularly go out there for fashion shows (or did until the Clothes Show shut its doors), and this year managed to stay on a little longer to visit some attractions around the area. This is by no means a comprehensive rundown of Birmingham’s vegetarian food and I would love to go back to explore some more – if I do, this guide will be updated. For now, let’s take a look at my travels!
You probably know by now that I unashamedly LOVE Wetherspoons. I’m the first to admit that in some towns you will find undercooked or burnt food, rude waitresses, and half the menu not available. But when you find the right Spoons, you will find a menu full of fantastic and great tasting veggie options, all at a brilliantly low price. After putting the Mexican and veggie burgers at the top of my top ten list, you can imagine my excitement when I read their latest new menu… featuring the all-new Texan burger.
If you are looking for a veggie burger that tastes great, doesn’t cost the earth, and is available easily, then it doesn’t get much better than the Wetherspoons veggie burger. Up until recently this was actually my very favourite veggie burger to have, though a recent change has meant that it has fallen a notch in my estimations – more on that later. It is still a meal that I very much enjoy, however, and so this is going to be a positive review from the outset.
I quite often nip out to Wetherspoons when I want a quick, hot, and tasty meal that I don’t have to cook, largely for two reasons: the price, and the veggie burgers. I’ll be going over the main veggie burger itself in a different review, but in this case I’m looking at the Mexican burger, which can be eaten with a veggie patty rather than one of the meat based burgers. It is basically an upgrade on the veggie burger and as such is a bit more expensive, but comes with a lot more food and flavour to make up for it. The meal comes as part of a deal which means that you get the burger and all accompaniments, a plate of chips, and a drink of your choice, all included in the price.
