Last week we were lucky enough to be invited to eat at Inamo in Covent Garden with a £30 voucher. While we did end up spending double that without even trying – budget diners may want to take note – it was an excellent meal and a fabulous experience overall.
We were invited down this past weekend to sample some veggie food and cocktails at Brick & Liquor, a relatively new venue in Tooting. It opened in October 2016 under the management of David Layton, who has 12 years of experience in running venues across London.
Recently, we were in Brighton for the day and decided to top it off with a veggie burger. There are a lot of great veggie and vegan options in this city – we’re planning a round-up sooner or later – so narrowing it down was tough. We eventually settled on Smokey’s, which is a bit of a weird one. It’s downstairs – we actually walked past it at first because we didn’t expect to be looking downwards to find it – and despite the American BBQ theme, actually looks more like a traditional English pub inside, albeit with Spanish-language film posters. It’s a strange vibe but quite a nice one, and we settled in well after walking through the rain to get there.
So this week I wanted to write a few lines about a little place to eat that we visit now and then, and which is definitely on my love list. Basil is a cafe/deli which serves beautiful food, much of it vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free, in Kent. They currently have three branches: two in Tunbridge Wells, and one in Tonbridge – our favourite as it’s a short walk away!
I recently took part in the Blogger’s Fashion Week day, which was held at OXO2 and featured some amazing brands and opportunities. I will be adding some food-specific reviews from some of those brands later on, but for now I wanted to feature the day itself. We were greeted by a plethora of opportunities to interact with brands – racks of beautiful clothes and lingerie, free manicures and beauty sessions, food and drink to try, non alcoholic cocktails, and a ton of samples to help us get to know the products.
