Foodies Festival Christmas 2016

Our Foodies Festival haul

Hopefully by now you’ve seen our Foodies Festival highlights post from earlier this week! As promised, today we’re bringing you a more in-depth look at the show and the brands that we encountered there. First off, let’s start by saying that we both loved walking around the event and speaking to all of the new brands. Everyone we spoke to was lovely and there were a lot of fantastic foods to sample.  read more

O’Neills Halloumi Burger

O'Neills Mushroom and Halloumi Burger

Back when J and I were living 2 hours apart, we had a little routine when he would come to visit me. The O’Neills pub in St Albans featured heavily in this routine, as a place where we would often go to drink and eat. In fact, it’s where we went on the night we first got together, so there are plenty of memories there. We now live too far away to head back to that exact branch, but recently headed into London for a bit of Irish nostalgia at the King’s Cross venue. read more

Maxwells: Veg-Out Burger

I have to introduce you to my new favourite place to eat. Reader, meet Maxwells.

Well, alright, when I say eat, I really mean drink. But to be fair, a drink at Maxwell’s is sort of like a meal anyway. Case in point: their freakshakes, which are really just desserts with a liquid component. Here’s the oreo freakshake, topped with an ice cream sandwich, layers of cream, and broken up oreos, and with an oreo milkshake on the inside. read more

All Star Lanes – Goats Cheese Stack

On a recent trip in the Brick Lane area, the pull of All Star Lanes was too much to resist. This glorious little slice of London is a bowling alley, karoake bar, and American-style diner all in one, and it’s definitely right up my alley (ha!). We had a couple of burgers there, but first let’s discuss the one that’s currently on the menu: the Goat’s Cheese Stack. read more

Ruby Blue – Falafel Burger

During a recent stay in London, we sought out Ruby Blue for a delicious meal reduced in price via the use of TasteCard. Of course, you know I went straight for the veggie burger, and we were given fantastic service by a waiter who was only too eager to ensure that everything was to our liking. We only had a limited time before a trip to the theatre, but that was plenty to enjoy the burger plus a cocktail or two. read more

Mildred’s Polish Burger

By now, regular readers know that I am a huge fan of Mildred’s, so it’s probably no surprise that I returned in order to try yet another of their marvellous burgers. This one is the Polish Burger from the regular menu. It’s served in a focaccia bun with iceburg lettuce, mayonnaise, pickled cabbage and gherkin, and my favourite: vegan cheese! It’s a beetroot, white bean and dill burger, which sounds amazing even to start with.  read more

Mildred’s Classic Burger

Mildred's Classic Burger

Recently, it was time for another visit to Mildred’s, our favourite veggie spot in London. This time, I decided to try the classic burger: smoked tofu, lentil, piquillo pepper in a focaccia bun with relish, rocket, red onion and tomato with vegan cheese. Vegan cheese! Tofu! Focaccia! I can’t explain the excitement. I also went for a side of sweet potato fries because, well, why wouldn’t you? read more

#BLFW: Bloggers London Fashion Week 2015

blfw

I recently took part in the Blogger’s Fashion Week day, which was held at OXO2 and featured some amazing brands and opportunities. I will be adding some food-specific reviews from some of those brands later on, but for now I wanted to feature the day itself. We were greeted by a plethora of opportunities to interact with brands – racks of beautiful clothes and lingerie, free manicures and beauty sessions, food and drink to try, non alcoholic cocktails, and a ton of samples to help us get to know the products. I was particularly excited to see a lot of luxury French designer lingerie brands I usually check at Juste Moi website. read more

Walrus and Carpenter Vegetable Burger

Walrus and Carpenter vegetable burger

I recently met up with a friend that I don’t see often. He works in London now, and when I’m up there, it’s normally only during the day, so our timetables clash. But recently, I realised that the meeting I had would finish around 5pm, leaving me free, so I fired off a text before heading in. Unfortunately, when I came out, I still hadn’t heard back, and his phone was off when I tried to call. Shrugging my shoulders, I started to head home – two connections on the Tube before getting to the station where I would be taking my final train. read more
