The Pitcher and Piano is a bar in local Tunbridge Wells which changes its menu fairly regularly. We have previously reviewed one of their burgers, but this time it’s the turn of their new Burger to Bun menu. The mushroom and sticky red onion burger is described on the menu as follows:
We previously reviewed a burger at the Slug and Lettuce, but that venue in Tonbridge has since been renovated into The Gatehouse. Good news for us, because it seemed a lot livelier and had a better atmosphere when we visited to try their new burger!
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, however, as there are a lot of similarities between the two burgers. Here’s the description from The Gatehouse menu:
This time out we took a trip to Bill’s in Bluewater. I can’t count the number of times we have looked at the menu and then ended up somewhere else, so finally it was time to give it a try. Of course we just had to go for the halloumi burger, which is listed on the menu as follows:
The Barn is a pub and restaurant in Tunbridge Wells, and until recently there wasn’t much to speak of on the bar menu (there’s only so many nachos you can eat). But the recent addition of a halloumi burger to the menu meant we absolutely had to go and check out the changes. Here’s what the menu has to say about this item:
Recent weeks have seen two food festivals come to our local area – the Penshurst Fair, and the Tonbridge Castle Food Festival. We managed to grab the time to go to both, and we always love seeing local vendors and picking up some treats. Let’s start with Penshurst, as this was the first of the two events to take place!
After a long day filming a TV pilot recently, J and I were dropped back by the production company at an easy to reach location: the Vauxhall Inn, which just so happens to be a restaurant with a pretty good reputation. They also have a dedicated vegetarian section on the menu, which is more than enough to impress me – so we decided to skip the cooking and give it a go.
So this week I wanted to write a few lines about a little place to eat that we visit now and then, and which is definitely on my love list. Basil is a cafe/deli which serves beautiful food, much of it vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free, in Kent. They currently have three branches: two in Tunbridge Wells, and one in Tonbridge – our favourite as it’s a short walk away!
Recently I ate at a pub in a small local village in Kent, Wrotham. The pub is called The Moat, and they serve a sweet potato and red pepper burger on their menu. Of course, I just had to try this out! It comes served with homemade coleslaw and skinny fries, and has a gherkin stuck on top as well, giving it quite a strange appearance. It is placed on a wooden board with a paper tray, which unfortunately is quite easy to tear once you start to eat the coleslaw. This is one of my pet hates at the moment as paper seems to be “in” with burgers – it just makes a mess, and I don’t want to eat it by accident.
