We’re back after a teensy bit of a winter break with a brand new recipe that definitely brings the warmth: toasted burritos. This dish pays homage to Mexican traditions and is perfectly attuned to both our tastes and what we normally have in the fridge – basically, it’s the kind of thing we could make any night of the week.
It’s time for another Wednesday review, and this time we headed for The Breakfast Club in Islington (not to be confused with The Breakfast Club in St Albans, which we have talked about previously).
Given that it had the same name as one of our favourite venues of all time, there was much excitement to try this cheery little cafe/restaurant. And it certainly is cheery, with a bright yellow facade and eclectic decor which includes lots of happy photos of customers.
And we’re back with another veggie feast – this time from our New Year celebrations! Just as with the Christmas food, we have a set schedule for our meals at this time of year. On New Year’s Eve we have a massive buffet with finger food to enjoy. Then on New Year’s Day we sit down to a two-course meal with starters and mains. Throw in copious amounts of champagne and other celebratory drinks and it’s a party!
This little dish has become a serious favourite of ours since we first tried it a month or so ago. It’s become our go-to late-night, long-day, nothing-in-the-cupboards meal. It’s delicious, it’s filling, it’s moreish, and it’s also really very healthy. When you look at it that way, I’m not sure why we don’t eat shakshuka every day of the week.
