This week we’re bringing you a review of another venue in Canterbury. Since we’re around there so much, we figured we’d try another veggie burger option and let you know what we think – enter Friendly Phils and their American-style dining.
It’s time for a look back at our year with the VegBurge Best of 2017 Awards. We’re giving props to the brands, restaurants, pubs, and burgers that deserve it. Without further ado, the announcements are as follows…
Best Recipe of 2017
This one is chosen by you lot. We analysed data from Instagram, Twitter, website stats, and YouTube to come up with the recipe that you loved the most. The winner is:
It’s time for a new feature: a battle of the brands, with vegan ribs in the spotlight. We’ve been trying vegan ribs for a while now and have come to find two of the best – but how do they match up, and which is better? Let’s find out…
This week’s review comes from one of our many trips to Canterbury – when we discovered a little burger place tucked away inside another venue. The Burger Bros brand appears to be steadily expanding, even if they don’t always have the largest facilities, which usually indicates quality, so we were happy to give them a try.
It’s another trip to the Lady Luck, and our favourite vegan/veggie haunt didn’t disappoint with another new special to try. Part of the fun is always finding out what is going to be on the blackboards, and this time it was a butternut squash and falafel burger.
So, this is what’s in it. It’s a soya burger with BBQ sauce, vegan cheese and onion rings, served on a homemade white roll with chips. It costs £9.95 and is vegan, but not gluten-free.
This week we’re taking you to another Canterbury restaurant, Tacos Locos. Anyone who recalls our trip to Budapest knows we found a fantastic restaurant there by the same name. This English version, sadly, does not live up to the original. Let’s explore how.
So, it’s time once again to revisit one of our favourite venues: The Lady Luck in Canterbury, which you will have heard about previously if you’re a regular reader. This time it’s the turn of the Greenhouse Burger, one of their specials which appears to pop up regularly (or has been available on at least two of our visits, at any rate).
Do you remember we recently did a review on one of the Lady Luck’s burgers and I promised more? Well, guess what we’re talking about today…
I’ve already gone on and on about how much I love the place, so let’s skip the decor and ambience and head right on to what you really care about: the food. The BBQ pulled jackfruit burger is described thusly:
I’m excited to start telling you all about the Lady Luck, because it has rapidly become one of our favourite places to go. Despite the fact that it’s over an hour’s drive away from home, we’ve already been 3 times – and I even took my parents! This is our absolute favourite bar right now, and with a fantastic veggie and vegan menu, there’s nothing not to like.
