A new week, a new brand! This time around we’re trying the No Bull Burgers. Points for a funny name, although it’s fairly ironic since these are, in fact, trying to be something they’re not. Which I would argue is the ‘alternative’ meaning of Bull, if you get my drift.
As you can see from the packaging, they are only available in Iceland from their frozen section. They’re vegan as well as being vegetarian, which is a nice bonus.
It has a very chewy and bouncy texture in your mouth. I would liken it to some of the more modern Quorn products in that sense. This is a really interesting product because once you cut or bite into it, it has that red centre which really does put you in mind of meat. However, it still does taste like beetroot, so it’s obvious where that colour comes from. It does also have some kind of odd-looking chunks in there which might be a bit off-putting.
There’s quite a juicy and flavourful element to this burger, and it has a smokey, meaty taste which comes out as you eat. Overall, I have to say I’m pretty impressed. There is room for improvement if you’re trying to make a meatless meat burger, but as something considered separately to eat, I really like it.
